Burnsville: Person Arrested for Possession of Stolen Items in Connection to Truck Theft

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA—Burnsville Police reportedly responded to a past-action theft around 6 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024. According to the criminal complaint released by the Dakota County Attorney's Office, the victim reported that their truck was broken into overnight and that they were missing several items worth over $1,000.

The victim reportedly was able to track his headphones to a home in Burnsville, Minnesota, where he spoke with a female living in the house and requested his missing items from her. While recording the interaction on their cellphone, they received a bag and duffel bag with the missing items.

Officers with the Burnsville Police then showed up at the residence and questioned the female, who stated her husband had brought the items there. Officers identified the husband as Anwar Manning, who had exited the residence and spoken with police. He told officers that he bought the items from his cousin for weed. He reportedly only paid for a laptop, but other items were in the bag. Manning denies that he stole them.

June 3, 2023 Police Incident

Anwar Manning was the subject of another police incident on Saturday, June 3, 2023, when the Minnesota State Patrol received reports of an ongoing domestic dispute along I-35E and southbound Highway 77. During this incident, a Minnesota State Trooper offered Manning and his significant other some help since they reported having car trouble by giving them a ride to a gas station off County Road 11. The Trooper told them he would need to pat them down before putting them in the squad, but Manning fled the officer. While pursuing Manning, the Trooper reportedly saw Manning holding a weapon in his right hand.

Manning was eventually found and taken into custody, but he was no longer in possession of the weapon. This case remains open. You can read our original story about this incident below.

His bail was set at $100,000 with conditions and $35,000 without conditions, and as of the writing of this story, it has not been posted. He remains in the Dakota County Jail. This and his other case remain open and active, and Manning is considered innocent until proven guilty. His next court date is June 13, 2024, at 9 AM in Hastings, Minnesota.
