Multiple Injuries Reported as Tree Branch Falls During Funeral at Burnsville Cemetery

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA—Around 3:18 PM on Friday, May 3, 2024, several Burnsville Fire, Burnsville Police, and Allina Health medics were dispatched to the Garden of Eden Islamic Cemetery, located off Highway 13 in Burnsville, Minnesota, for reports that a large tree branch had fallen during a funeral.

While the details of what caused the branch to fall are unknown at this time, officials with the City of Burnsville confirmed that four people were transported to local hospitals for medical care. Three patients were said to be in stable condition, and one was in critical condition. Mutual aid was called in from the Savage Fire Department to assist Burnsville Fire Crews.

While this incident was going on, a fire call was also toned out for the City of Burnsville, which the Apple Valley Fire Department was asked to respond to as Burnsville crews were tied up at the incident at the cemetery and another medical call within the city. Thankfully, the fire call was a false alarm for burnt food per scanner traffic.

This article will be updated with new information as the story unfolds.
