Pan-handlers Steel Drum Band brings unique and family-friendly shows all across the Twin Cities

ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA - On Sunday, July 24th, Roseville Parks and Recreation hosted the Pan-handlers Steel Drum Band as part of their "Live at the Rog" Summer Performance Series held on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Every Sunday evening is the Creative Crossroads, where they highlight similarities and differences across cultures through comparable music, dance, theater, storytelling, and customer design performances. A link to the complete list of the remaining events for the Summer Performance Series can be found at the end of this article.

This past Sunday, the Pan-handlers Steel Drum Band (Caribbean steel drums), came to Roseville, Minnesota with an energetic 2-hour set with an array of songs that included popular pop hits, rock classics, and a few traditional numbers from Trinidad-Tobago where the steel drums originated from. This free performance was an amazing experience for all ages, with light humor, crowd participation, and even a chance to dance around. The Pan-handlers Steel Drum Band was founded in 2014 by Chops, Inc, which is a Minneapolis-based non-profit organization that helps offer year-round music performances and educational programs all across the Twin Cities.

The next full band performance will be at Reggae Fest in Hager City, Wisconsin (Red Wing, Minnesota) on Saturday, July 29th with the next Twin Cities performance Saturday, August 5th at Como Lakeside Pavilion. There is also a Tin Cups Rehearsal on Wednesday, July 26th at 6 PM in Hopkins, Minnesota. The Tin Cups is a steel drum ensemble that also performs at several parades and events all across the Metro. During their rehearsals, you get the opportunity to learn how to play the steel drums. No experience necessary! For more on the Rehearsal, you can go here: Tin Cups.
