Water Efficiency Rebates for Apple Valley Residents

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Are you an Apple Valley, Minnesota resident who has replaced or is planning to replace your toilet, lawn sprinkler, or clothes washing machines with US EPA WaterSense/US DOE Energy Star labeled products?

If you answer yes and did it after July 1, 2022, or plan to do it before June 30, 2024, you might be eligible for a rebate!

The Metropolitan Council awarded the City of Apple Valley a $35,000 water efficiency grant. This grant program was funded by the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment and aims to improve the City's water use and help conserve water. The rebate program is only available to residents of the City of Apple Valley who are customers of the City of Apple Valley's water supply system. The rebate will cover out-of-pocket expenses to replace the device, not including tax. New construction or developments are not eligible for this rebate program.

The following is a list of items that are eligible for rebates:

  • Toilets – 50% of cost up to a maximum of $100 for toilets replaced with a US EPA WaterSense labeled toilet

  • Irrigation (lawn sprinkler) Controllers - 50% of cost up to a maximum of $150 for irrigation controllers replaced with a US EPA WaterSense labeled controller

  • Irrigation System Audits:

  • For a typical residential low-volume user (<100,000 gals/yr) $150 rebate

  • For larger property high volume users (>100,000 gals/yr), 80% funding after $50 owner fee

  • Clothes Washing Machines – A flat amount of $150 for washing machines replaced with a US DOE Energy Star labeled machine

This rebate will remain available to residents who meet eligibility requirements until June 30, 2024, or until the funds are depleted. There is no limit to how many rebates can be used at a single address, but the City says one could be imposed later. The rebates will be processed as received and issued as a credit on a customer's utility bill. It could take up to 1-2 billing cycles for the rebate to appear.
