Large fire response after a confirmed fire in the stove in Waukesha, Wisconsin

WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN - Around 8:35 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023, the Waukesha Fire Department and Waukesha Police Department received a 911 call for a stove fire at a home in the 1200 block of Chippewa Drive in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The homeowner, who reported the fire, stated she was running the cleaning cycle when a fire started inside/under their stove.

The first crews arrived on the scene about 6 minutes after the call came in with crews on the scene reporting a two-story structure with smoke showing, confirming the working fire. An offensive attack was taken and crews began to investigate. All residents of the home were able to evacuate the residence. Only one person from the home was checked out by medical for possible smoke inhalation. Fire crews reported that were was an active fire in the stove, but that it was confined to just the stove. Fire crews investigated if there was any extension of fire into the basement of the structure. No extension was found. Waukesha Fire Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 10 minutes. Fans were used to ventilate the home.

In response to this fire, a total of 11 fire units arrived at the scene, including Ambulance 51, Ambulance 52, Ambulance 54, Ambulance 55, Battalion 10, Engine 1P, Engine 3P, Engine 4P, Ladder 2P, and Ladder 5P. In addition to the fire units, the Waukesha Police Department was also on the scene.
