Fully involved car on fire on MN 55 near MN 62

Around 3:06 PM, several calls came in for a car on the side of the road that was on fire in the area of Mn 62 and Mn 55. Mendota Heights police would later arrive on the scene and report that the vehicle was fully involved. Dakota County Dispatch would also pull the vehicle up on camera, confirming the fire and location. All occupants were said to be out of the vehicle. Police on the scene would end up closing southbound 55 to allow for fire crews to extinguish the fire.

Mendota Heights Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire quickly but remained on the scene to make sure there were no additional hot spots. By 3:45 PM, a tow truck arrived on the scene, and Mendota Heights Fire Department had left. The road remained closed while they waited for the vehicle to be towed and the scene to be cleared of debris.

As of 3:50 PM, the road had reopened once again.
