UPDATED: Lakeville Police Investigating Suspected Homicide
UPDATE: Lakeville Man Charged with Murder of his Sister and Her Unborn Child
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA— According to the Lakeville Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 17000 block of Encina Path in Lakeville, Minnesota, after a family member arrived at the residence and found a “significant amount of blood” found inside a home at around 11:11 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024. According to the press release, when officers arrived at the residence, they located a deceased adult female. The family member was reported not to be believed to be involved in the incident.
As the investigation into this incident continued, police quickly identified an adult male as a suspect, and an alert was put out for a vehicle they were reportedly driving. The press release states that around 11:22 PM, the Rosemount Mount Police Department responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 3700 block of 148th Street in Rosemount, Minnesota. When officers arrived in the area, they found a vehicle that had the alert associated with it. The vehicle was reported empty, so officers began a search of the area. A short while later, the suspect was found in a backyard and was taken into custody at around 11:51 PM. He was found with a self-inflicted injury and was transported to M Health Regions Hospital in St Paul, Minnesota. The suspect remains in custody and the care of Regions at this time.
The Dakota County Sheriff‘s Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting the Lakeville and Rosemount Police Departments in this investigation. The identity of the deceased woman will come after an investigation by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is finished with an autopsy report. More information will be released as this investigation continues.
