UPDATED: Firefighters Battle Blaze in Hastings Residence

Updated - 8:30 am on March 19, 2024.
HASTINGS, MINNESOTA—
Just before 1:30 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, the Hastings Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Cottage Grove Fire Department, was dispatched to a possible fire at a residence near the intersection of 6th Street West and Maple Street in the City of Hastings, Minnesota.

Hastings Fire Chief arrived a few minutes after being paged out and confirmed a working fire coming from the second floor of the system. From the scanner traffic, fire crews decided to take a defensive attack on the fire, and a request was made for additional mutual aid to be called in from Prescott Fire in Wisconsin.

The fire was reported to be out by 2:39 PM, and all Hastings Fire units cleared the scene by 3:59 PM. At this time, the cause of the fire and whether any injuries resulted from it are unknown. We will contact the Hastings Fire Department for more information. Once we have more information, we will post an update.

UPDATE

According to the family, ten people live in the residence, and everyone exited the house safely following the fire on Monday, March 18th. Unfortunately, one cat is still missing, and the family says they lost everyone between the fire, smoke, and water. The family said they need the following clothes items:

  • Boys Size 6

  • Boys Size 8

  • Boys Size 2

  • Girls Size 4

  • Men Size XL

  • Ladies Size M or LG

  • Ladies Size 2x or 3x
You may contact Mari Pachan via Facebook Messenger if you have clothes you can donate to the family.

We are still waiting to hear back from the Hastings Fire Department on a possible cause. We will also provide an update once we hear back from them.
