Investigation into Fatal Shooting in Merriam Park Neighborhood

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA - The Saint Paul Police Department says they are investigating a fatal shooting in the city’s Merriam Park neighborhood on Monday, April 1st, 2024.

According to police, Officers were called on a report that a person had shot themself in an apartment on the 1900 block of Marshall Avenue in St Paul, Minnesota, just after 2 p.m. When the police arrived, they located an adult male with a gunshot wound to the head. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead on the scene, and a handgun was also located in the apartment. Saint Paul Police say investigators interviewed witnesses and noticed inconsistencies with their statements, and this led the police to have probable cause to arrest an 18-year-old male on suspicion of second-degree murder. This is the 6th homicide of the year in the City of Saint Paul.
